PRO TRAIL PURSUIT

Profession Anglers Eddie BussardAs many of my regular clients know, some 10 years ago I put tournament fishing on the back burner. In 2010 however, I found myself with the opportunity to compete in a couple national tournaments culminating in some respectfully high placed finishes. Needless to say, I now have the tournament bug again. During the 2011 season, I signed up for the FLW Outdoors Bass Fishing League tournament circuit in order to be eligible to participate in the more prestigious FLW professional tournament trail for the 2012 season. To qualify requires making the top 40 out of 200 plus competitors to be offered special entry status into the professional level FLW and Ever Start Tour events. With only one tournament remaining in the 2011 season, I am currently ranked in 17th position in placement points. This means that I will only need to show up and catch one fish to place in the top 40 overall. Next stop will then be Lake Hartwell, South Carolina to compete in the Southeast Regional tournament for FLW Outdoors.

Besides my achievement in the FLW events, I also finished a tournament day in the Bass Champion Senior Classic two day event held on Lake Monroe in May with a 5 fish limit weighing in at an astonishing 31.99 pounds. My largest tournament fish hit the scales at 8.87 pounds. Both of these sealed my place as the first place finisher over all the other competitors that qualified to fish this final event.

Based on my current track record, I am trying to plan ahead for 2012 FLW Tournament Season. The next level of entry fees are much higher at the professional level. The high media attention for these events on nationally broadcast TV stations in conjunction with live Internet video feeds and updates, produces many opportunity's for exposure to the outdoor industry and product recognition with the general public that attends and follows these events.

Luckily, I was in a position this season to cover all my own expenses and tournament entry fees. If I want to pursue my dream, I know that I will need some assistance. For those of you that know me, and the type of person I am, then you fully understand that I am not comfortable asking for help from others, but this is a door that has opened for me which I may never get another chance to pass through.

If you are still reading along, then you know what coming, so here it is.... If any of my longtime clients, business associates or fishing report readers are in the position to offer me a sponsorship opportunity, please contact me.
