SALT WATER FISHING REPORT

July 5, 2010

Sorry for the lack of reports the past 60 days. The problem has been we are booking very few trips for Bass Fishing although this should be a busy time of the year for us. We have seen very few customers the past two months.

I feel one of the main reasons for this has been the Gulf Oil Spill media coverage that was constantly naming the Florida East Coast as a target area for the gulf oil to spread during our busy summer months in Daytona and New Smyrna Beach FL. I feel that many of the Florida Tourist that were making their plans to spend their summer vacations on Florida's East Coast didn't want to take a chance of the oil being here when they arrived for vacation and I don't blame them at all. Finialy yesterday on July 3rd I seen in the media that they are now only giving the oil a 20% chance of making it to the Florida East Coast Beaches.

But I feel that this media update came much to late for our Florida East Coast business's to have a chance of recouping any loses from this Media Disaster.

Yes the Gulf Oil Spill is very sad and I have many friends that are affected from the oil in their areas on the Gulf Coast.I fault the Media 100% for the disaster they have created for our Florida East Coast Business's because they jumped the GUN when letting the World know where this Oil Spill was going.

Our Florida East Coast Beaches are clean of Oil and our usual East Coast Summer Tourist as well.
Thanks To The Media!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jack caught in Florida near the capeJack caught in Florida near the capeBonita caught in Florida near the cape

Spent the past two days fishing with one of my regular client's Kent S from Ohio. Kent has been a Freshwater customer of mine for over 10 years but made the trip down to FL this week to do some Nearshore fishing with me out of the Cape.

Tarpon was our main target fish for the two days.We found Tarpon both days just off the beach in 20 to 25 ft of water but had trouble getting them to eat and the few we did have eat came unbuttoned very quick. Between Tarpon bites there was plenty of action with BIG JACKS. Kent caught the biggest Jack I have ever seen. Length 47 inches Girth 26 Inches. Kent had the fight of his life as it took 70 minutes to bring this fish boat side on lite tackle.I am guessing this fish weighed close to 50 pounds Kent also landed three other Jacks just a little smaller. Along with the Jacks came Black Tip Sharks by the dozens and a hand full of Big Bonita weighing between 10 and 15 pounds. It was steady action both days and beautiful weather for sight fishing along the East Coast of Florida. We found Pogies each morning and with one throw of the cast net each day we were set with all the livebait we needed for the entire days fishing.

I still have a few days open this month so if you are looking for some reel screaming action on the East Coast of Florida please give me a call.
